Ah ! Kosmos
Sound installation
Başak Günak also known as AH! KOSMOS is producer and performer born in Istanbul, based in Berlin.
Ah! Kosmos uses experimentation with found sounds and analogue and electronic composition to experience how sound vibration and melody resonates with bodies and “other beings”. Her debut EP “Flesh” is released by Muzik Hayvanı label in May 2013, followed by her LP ‘Bastards’ in April 2015 by Denovali Records (DE). Her music paints euphoric melodies over rhythms with echoing guitar and floating vocals. It combines buoyant, crunchy percussion with minor-key, determined melodic soundscapes. Her E.P ‘Together We Collide’ is released on March 2017. Both timeless and otherworldly, Günak’s work unconsciously defies being tied to a genre, tapping into something beyond an immediate surrounding or experience to communicate something more transcendental.
Günak splits her time between producing, live performance and composing for dance, theater, film, and visual art. She has made composition & sound design for contemporary dance, theaters, short-films and site-specific performances in several art spaces including Prague Quadrennial 2015, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Prague Signal Festival, 18th and 19th Istanbul International Theater Festival (IKSV), ARENA Theater Festival Nürnberg. She has performed in many festivals such as Sonar Festival, Berlin CTM Festival, she most notably performed alongside with Jonny Greenwood’s Junun project, Sigur Rós, DARKSIDE, Kiasmos, James Holden.
